28 years of ownership. Van only used in Summer and kept in warm garage, been driven every year and always been taxed, MOT exempt for last 6 years, been serviced every year since by local VW garage. Interior – 2021 Had new cupboard bespoke units all in Carbon fibre Laminate with aluminium edges. Overhead locker, Twin rear facing cupboard seat, with headrests and four seat belots fitted. Designed interior to make lots of different combinations and can make bed from front all the way to the rear, New compressor 12v Fridge fitted used once Cost £600.000 Been fully fitted with sound deadening Dynamat to all panels, roof, doors etc. with sound deading underlay under all flooring. Professionally upholstered interior panels, headlining, sub box, front seats, rear seats – Stich detailed in cross banding diamond design. Bluebird customs rock and roll bed and checker plate special order vinyl flip tiles on floor & table
Engine custom new build in 2013 covered 30,0000 approx. 1776cc, Built for torque to pull camping gear and is quick, keeps up with motorway traffic even when loaded up! New Mexico beetle crank case with extra oil cooling routes, Marle heads and pistons, Engle 120 cam, Empi Billet rocker covers, Electronic ignition Petronix,009 dizzy Petronix, Flame thrower coil Petronix, Carbon leads Petronix, Bmd billet aluminium pulley kit, Shadec high predssure oil pump, External oil fiilter fram and 12v with cooling fan beneath van. New Stainless steel Vintage speed exhaust fitted and New Twin webber 40IDF carbs fitted in 2020 plus new 165amp Alternator high power output, Skat bus gear shifter with 1979 Gear box for taller motorway gear. It has just had a top end rebuild on the engine fully serviced and tuned by JS Auto Tune with all new oil & fuel pipes,filters, valves and pushrods so running perfectly.
Electrics. Over £3000 spent approx. In 2020 van has had a full professional re-wire, with custom 3D printed Blade fuse box so safer with 240v hook up and Sargent charging system with 12v-240v invertor added etc. This Sargent unit allows you to plug into the mains hook up on campsites and charges the batteries. Dual charging, New 2025 Leisure & Main battery,12No. 240v Sockets and 20 USB’s throughout van. Gauge in rear shows battery levels charging etc. Alarm – Thatcham approved with motion sensor, immobiliser and alert if someone comes near it with immobiliser, Drop down TV, DVD, HDMI, usb 17” screen into ceiling which has the seprate digital TV box so you watch TV Dvd usb head unit Pioneer, High Amp capacitor, large amp under seat and 12 inch Focal sub,Focal tweeters x 2,Focal mids x 4, Focal 6 x 9 speaker – Classic Ice now had spent around 2K when new with 2 x custom built sub boxes in front and rear. Monster Rev counter, Oil temp gauge, Battery gauge on dash, Oil pressure gauge.
Bodywork & Chassis Pop our rear safari window and sliding rear windows, painted in Piaggio Mango Orange. Clear one-off custom rear light units. Rear Axyl replaced with creative engineering lowering plates fitted, new Creative lowered front beam fitted, track rods, ball joints, gas shocks etc. Suspension can be lowered to the floor if prefered (Beach photo shows it lowered) BRM chrome alloys, one off samples made in high quality chrome by Midland Wheels, Tyres high quality all weather (good in fieids!) excellent condition.
The van is not immaculate it is 52 years old! Expect, signs of use & age inside and out, but is solid, turns heads, and in excellent mechanical condition.
Beach picture shows it lowered and with Roof racks, side steps, Bike rack all available still if you wanted them.
