4 gear manual transmission.
She is no race horse, but a work horse. Her top speed is 55, going downhill with a tail wind…. but she will just keep going and get you home.
She is listed as a 5 berth, although the single bed under the cab is only really good for a small person or child, and impedes the ladder to the double bed above the cab so I consider her a 4 berth.
Her bodywork has a few rust patches, but I have been told that she is not bad at all and vehicles 20 years younger have more rust! Most of her spots are easily fixed; her underside is great, it is mainly on her wheel arches that she could do with a little repair (which can be seen in the photographs).
She is 42, so although she may look tired on the outside, she has the heart of a lion. She is now a classic, so does not need an MOT although she was MOT’ed up to last year and happy to get a new one done for a genuine buyer.
I have owned her 8 years and there is a knack to starting her, which once you know, you know! She is a reliable starter, and most parts have been replaced or reconditioned. With this trusted engine there is so little to go wrong making her very easy to maintain.
The upside to her length is you can’t easily steal her – she cannot be towed unless putting her on a low loader!
She sprung a leak in 2022, and I’ve spent good money getting her water tight again with a new rubber roof. As a result two of the sky lights are now sealed to make sure she stays that way. As a result there is a stain around the sky light and across the ply ceiling that needs painting, but I am not trying to hide the fact she leaked a few years back, as it is clear she is now dry as toast and NO smell of mold! Her ceiling internally could do with painting and making good in places to remove signs of the leak, which I would do if I was keeping her.
I have replaced much of the old fiberglass insulation as it was not doing the job anymore and had become a haven for bugs! I have replaced most of it with polystyrene to make her more cozy- but there are a few bits that still need doing.
The beauty of this van is her size. She is vast inside with a proper shower space and two double beds. The bed above the cab is low rise but spaciously wide and my grand kids love it up there!
She still has all her original seats – retro now! They are only this clean as they have been sealed in wrap since I had her; I have always had a proper mattress down at the back and used that area as a fixed bed. She is big enough to do that and still have the small front table to eat at. The photos show the two options:- seats down or the permanent mattress.
During lock down I completely rewired the 12v and all the wiring is sound and properly fused. She has a solar panel on the roof that is more than enough for festival life; phone and lights off grid without a problem. She has had lots of upgrades and benefits from hot water, and a great electric shower! Do check the list of what she comes with to see that she is great value for money.
I have had many a happy trip/festival and covered plenty of miles in her. I have made some fantastic memories in her too. I will miss her. But as a solo camper she is really too big for me; this is a reluctant sale.I really want her to go to someone who is an enthusiast, who wants to put some effort into getting to know her quirks, and will love her as much as I do. For what you get with this classic van she is a real bargain.
