The van is fully insulated with a combination of insulation board and recycled plastic bottle wool, then finished off with a vapour barrier. The two roof vents can be controlled by remote control which is perfect for creating a nice airflow throughout the van.
The electrical system comprises of two 125Ah AGM leisure batteries charged via the solar panel on the roof and also a voltage sensitive relay for emergency charging. The system powers a variety of 12V appliances such as a diesel heater, fridge, dimmable spotlights and water pump, but also includes and inverter to allow you to use the three double plug sockets located around the van, perfect for charging laptops or phones or to power the included wall-mounted TV monitor.
Included are the instruction manuals for all appliances, as well as a full circuit diagram for the electrical system.
The van includes a full IKEA kitchen, fitted with a double gas hob. Gas is supplied by the underslung 25L LPG tank which includes a refill point fitted on the side of the van. There is ample overhead storage and lots of shelving mounted on the walls.
The bed was fitted with the intention of sleeping width-ways across the van. The mattress measures 171x97cm so may only be suitable for smaller people, although the bed could easily be modified to pull out and extend into a double-bed. There is also the option to pull out a compartment between the benches which creates another sleeping space.
The rear of the van houses a 70L water tank as well as a Joolca Hottap shower unit. Gas is supplied to the shower unit allowing for hot showers. I’ve modified the rear curtain rails so they extend out and join to form a shower curtain between the two rear doors.
The van itself is an ex-service vehicle with only two previous owners – once an ambulance and then a police van – so it had previously been very well looked after and regularly serviced. It runs perfectly and I’ve never had any issues. Included is the log/service book as well as receipts and documentation for any work that’s been carried out.
I’m truly gutted to be letting go of something that’s taken up so much of my time and energy so I’m hoping a new owner will be able to put it to good use and use it for what it was designed for.
