Sadly, the time has come to sell our much-loved 2024 Volkswagen Transporter T6.1 Campervan, purely because we are upgrading to a motorhome.
The van is a T32 Highline Kombi, 2.0 TDI 150PS DSG Automatic, Short Wheelbase (SWB) and has covered only 15,750 miles.
We have put a lot of thought into creating a camper that works brilliantly when you’re away, while still retaining the versatility and practicality of a VW Transporter.

Why We Chose the Outback Conversion

We have put a lot of thought into creating a camper that works brilliantly when you’re away, while still retaining the versatility and practicality of a VW Transporter.

Why We Chose the Outback Conversion
When we were deciding how to convert the van, we spoke to dozens of VW camper owners about what they liked and what they would change.
One thing came up time and time again – despite having an internal kitchen, many told us they rarely or never actually cooked inside their van because they didn’t want cooking smells lingering in the interior.
That really influenced our decision.
Instead of fitting a conventional permanent kitchen inside the van, we chose the Outback conversion system, which allows you to cook from the rear of the vehicle.
It has turned out to be one of the best decisions we made.
We have cooked using the Outback every single time we’ve been away, and because you’re cooking at the rear/outside of the van, we’ve never had the problem of cooking smells lingering inside.
It also means you can enjoy cooking while looking out at wherever you’re staying, rather than standing inside the van.
For us, it’s been a fantastic setup and one of our favourite features of the conversion.

Fiamma Awning & Full Enclosure
The van is fitted with a Fiamma wind-out awning, which is brilliant for quickly creating a covered area alongside the van.
We also have the full Fiamma enclosure kit, allowing the awning to be completely enclosed and creating an additional sheltered living area.
An inflatable draught excluder is also included.

Vango AirBeam Drive-Away Awning
On the driver’s side we have had an additional awning rail fitted, which we use with our Vango AirBeam drive-away awning.
The Vango awning also comes with its bedroom compartment, providing even more sleeping and living space when you’re away.
Because it’s a drive-away awning, you can leave it pitched on site while taking the van out for the day.

Power, Off-Grid Capability & Security
We also have an EcoFlow delta 2max portable power station and EcoFlow alternator charging setup, which has proven extremely capable off-grid.
On one of our trips it comfortably provided up to 3 days of electricity off-grid, powering everything we needed. This can be included with the van if the new owner is interested.
For peace of mind, the van is also fitted with:
• Scorpion S5 tracker
• Scorpion X-Series immobiliser system

BFGoodrich All-Terrain Tyres + Original Tyres Included
We have also upgraded the van with BFGoodrich All-Terrain tyres, which really suit the Transporter and are ideal for a camper that’s going to be used for touring, campsites and getting off the beaten track.
We have kept the original tyres, which are still nearly new, and these will also be included with the van and given to the new owner.

A Really Versatile Camper
One of the things we love most about this setup is its flexibility.
For a quick overnight stop or weekend away, you can keep things simple and just use the van and pop-top.
For longer stays, the Fiamma awning and full enclosure gives you additional covered living space.
And when you want even more room, the Vango AirBeam awning with bedroom provides a substantial additional area alongside the camper.
The result is a camper that can be set up differently depending on the type of trip you’re taking, rather than having to carry a large permanent conversion around all the time.

This really is a lovely van and has been an excellent camper for us. The only reason for selling is that we have decided to upgrade to a motorhome.
A considerable amount of thought has gone into the conversion and we’ve found the setup works exceptionally well in real-world use.
