2017 Fiat Ducato L2H2 Automatic – High-Spec Part Conversion
A fantastic opportunity to take on a 2017 Fiat Ducato L2H2 much desirable automatic campervan project, with a substantial amount of the expensive / fiddly conversion work already completed, including a professionally installed high-end off-grid electrical system with 400w Solar, DC/DC charging and a 400ah TBB Battery and all relevant safety cut off and isolation.
We purchased the van from Basevan in 2024 with the intention of completing the conversion ourselves. Unfortunately, other commitments mean we simply don’t have the time to finish it, so we’d love for it to go to someone who can put their own stamp on it.
Being an L2H2, we found it a brilliant compromise between usable interior space and everyday practicality. At around 5.4m long, it’s considerably easier to manoeuvre and park than the longer Ducatos and will fit into many standard-length parking spaces. The automatic transmission also makes it particularly easy and comfortable to drive.
The van currently has 108,970 miles and has just passed its MOT with no advisories. The cambelt and water pump were replaced at approximately 106,000 miles. It’s also ULEZ compliant and is from the last generation before AdBlue was introduced, giving you a Euro 6 van without the additional AdBlue system. Multimedia infotainment system and rear reversing camera.
Conversion work & equipment
A major part of the conversion has already been completed, with a particularly capable electrical setup designed for proper off-grid use:
400Ah TBB lithium leisure battery with monitoring
400W solar
3000W pure sine-wave inverter
Victron 30A DC-to-DC charger
240V external hook-up
12v wiring and fuse board
Maxxair Deluxe 400 × 400 roof fan
2 × Solway 900 × 350 hinged camper windows
Lavanner Pro 12V 5kW diesel heater
Full Raptor exterior coating in Khaki green
Thule Omnistor awning
Side door and rear door professional security deadlocks
Partially sound deadened and insulated
Dodo Pro insulation materials left over and included, 3 full rolls of Pro Liner and a pack of Deadn
Also included in the sale is a substantial amount of new/unused conversion equipment and materials, including a 12V compressor 65l Alpicool fridge, gas hob, sink, toilet, 3.5 rolls of Dodo Thermo Liner Pro, a box of Dodo Deadn Pro, bed framing, sink, various foam cushions, panels, Boxio composting toilet kit, flooring/lining materials, along with accompanying pipework, fittings and numerous parts fitted already. (can send a video)
The cab has three belted seats with quilted seat covers (seats underneath are in great condition), while the rear remains open enough that the new owner isn’t tied into somebody else’s layout. Whether you want a fixed bed, convertible lounge, kitchen, shower/toilet area or something more adventure-focused, you’ve still got the opportunity to design the living space around how you’ll actually use it.
The van’s distinctive green Raptor finish gives it loads of character and, combined with the black windows and awning, already makes it look much more like a finished adventure van than a standard panel van.
This would make a brilliant winter project for someone wanting to build their own camper without starting with an empty van. A lot of the costly and time-consuming infrastructure is already there — electrical system, solar, heating, ventilation, windows, insulation work and exterior finish — leaving the enjoyable part of designing and finishing the interior.
The van runs perfectly and passed it’s MOT with flying colours. The only issues are the side door requires a new mechanism fitting which does come with the van and the rear doors would benefit from some adjustment / alignment as feel quite tight upon shutting. Both are currently locked on deadlocks. The van currently stands me at around £22,000 all in with 2000 miles covered in my ownership. As such I feel it’s priced to sell for the right owner that would like a project with the daunting jobs already completed. With this in mind I wouldn’t be open to low ball offers or swaps of any kind.
