I have for reluctant sale my 1967 Splitty. Its an original RHD split screen camper built in the Hannover factory in 1966 and first registered in England in 1967. The previous owner purchased the bus in 1996 and had extensively restored it with a catalogue of bills and photos to document the restoration. I was only able to purchase it in 2017 because the pervious owner was going through a divorce and reluctantly had to let it go.
It is a fully kitted out camper by Cantabury Pitt including cupboards, bed and full length pop top roof which houses two hammocks making it a four birth. There is a fridge powered by gas/ electricity via mains hook up and leisure battery. Two ring gas hob, heating powered by Gas and washing bowl sink with powered tap. Curtain cover all windows for privacy and there are three lights. Between the two front seats there is a hidden safe.
Highlights:
Reconditioned engine 1914cc long block, 94mm barrels
Twin Delorto 40mm carbs
Fabricated belly pan
CSP Front discs
Lowered slighly for safe ride
Newly refurbed gear box
New clutch
Refurbed powder coated roof rack
Bodywork repairs
Front and back bumper powder coating
IRS conversion
New heat exchangers
New stainless exhaust
New safari windows with welded hinges
The bus has always been stored in a dry garage when not in use and I have covered about 25K miles, it has been serviced regularly and maintained to a high standard.
In March 25 I have changed oil, oil filter, plug leads, new plugs, checked valve clearance, checked timing, balanced carbs, replaced exhaust to stainless system, replaced heat exchangers, polished alloys.
This is as close to a daily use Splitty you can get, totally compatible with current traffic and very comfortable cruising at motorway speeds.
Supplied with a birth certificate from VW
It has never let me down and is such an experience to drive.
I know I will regret this but divorce forces reluctant sale.
